How to put XICA's code of conduct, "XICA WAY," into practice (March 2021 edition)

This article was written by CEO Hirao to inform XICA members how to put the XICA WAY code of conduct into practice.
This time, in order to convey more about XICA to those who are interested in XICA, we decided to publish the message sent to the company as it is. We hope that by reading this article, you will be able to get a sense of XICA's corporate culture and personality.

XICA's code of conduct, "XICA WAY," is a "wish" we send to our members.
Last articleSo I said, "The 12 XICA WAYs were created to fully cover all the skills you need to realize your talent development." However, it is not enough to just create them. What you can usemust be
XICA WAY is not an independent system like a TODO list where you mark each task as done. WAYs are related to each other and have a structure.
The 12 XICA WAYs are composed of seven "ways of engaging with individuals (green)," four "ways of engaging with organizations (red)," and one "way of engaging with society (blue)." These three sections are further grouped within each section, and each WAY has some kind of relationship with the other WAYs, whether they are in order or in parallel.
In this article, I will first explain the structure of the XICA WAY for each section, as a prerequisite for putting the WAY into practice, and then I will talk about how to put each WAY into practice.
"How do we embody the XICA WAY?"I would be happy if you could refer back to me if you have any doubts like that.
How to deal with individuals
"How to deal with individuals," shown in green, is further divided into "mindset," "goal setting," and "PDCA," and progress is made in that order.
mindset
It's in the "mindset""01. I love challenges"with"02. Resilience"These two do not exist separately, but support each other.
01. I love challenges
We are trying to create a new market that has never existed before. One of the driving forces behind this is curiosity about the unknown. You may feel scared of setting foot in uncharted territory or intimidated by the high goals you set. But you should still set high goals and maintain the courage to take on new challenges. What's important is thatDon't limit yourself. Anddon't be afraid of failure.
02. Resilience
While I want you to love and embrace challenges, you don't need to push yourself so hard that you burn out and lose your appetite for challenges.Persistence is what makes a true professionalWhen faced with difficulties, think about completing the task as a team. Flexible bamboo bends in the wind, but it never breaks. Let's have flexible strength, not rigid strength.
goal setting
With this mindset at the core, the next step is to visualize your ideal. After "preparation" comes "goal setting." When setting goals, you should keep in mind the following:"03. Pursue extraordinary growth", and what you want to keep in mind when planning your path to your goal."04. Interacting between logic and creativity"There are two ways.
03. Pursue extraordinary growth
When setting goals, it is important to rememberDraw a picture of "To be" (ideal state) and work backwards to "As is" (current state) to create a logical flow.If you think of things as an extension of the past because that's how things were until yesterday, you won't be able to visualize your ideal state.Innovation comes from new combinations. It doesn't have to be all contiguous. If you want to get to your destination the fastest, don't build a fast car, build a rocket. That's innovation. A discontinuous goal.
04. Combining logic and creativity
After setting a goal,When creating a path to your goal, you think in a logical and creative way.
Logic is the accumulation of numbers and facts. Creativity is ideas based on sensibility and intuition. Are you only using one of these two? By going back and forth between the two, you should be able to draw a path to achieving discontinuous goals.

PDCA
Once you have set a goal, you can begin the PDCA cycle. The WAY to keep in mind during the PDCA process is:"05. Hit the nail on the head," "06. Continue learning through practice," and "07. Seek the fastest speed."There are two.
05. Hit the Essence
The first step in the PDCA cycle, the Plan stage, is to keep in mind "05. Hit the essence."Instead of thinking about solutions, start by identifying the problems and issues. That is what I mean. Real problem solving is,Eliminate personal dependency and solve the problem through a reproducible systemTo do this, it is very important to identify the root cause.

06. Continue learning through practice
In the Do, Check, and Action process, where you execute your hypothesis and verify the results, you will unravel the factors behind your success and failure. The new learning you gain here will not end as a momentary realization, but will be reconstructed as a system. This is"06. Continue learning through practice"That is. By repeating,This will allow for the accumulation of know-how that is not dependent on a single individual, which should improve the accuracy of hypotheses..
07. Seeking speed
And always keep the PDCA cycle going as fast as possible.Rather than producing one item that scores 100 points, produce five items that score 1 points.I think that's a good thing.

How to approach the organization
So far, I have explained seven ways of "dealing with individuals."
The four ways in red show how to approach an organization. A company is a gathering of people with various values and backgrounds. It will not work if you just improve the mindset and behavior of individuals.
Your behavior
08. Make it your own business
What you should be conscious of when it comes to your behavior in an organization is:"08. Make it your own business"It is that.
Being able to talk about the team's successes and failures as if they were your own is a sign that you have embodied the concept of "owning it."What is needed is to raise your hand, have your own opinion, and express it. Don't wait for someone else to do it, but get involved proactively.
Behavior towards others
09. Respect & Encourage
10. Welcome different ideas
In "Behavior towards others," we defined three ways of ideal communication. The basic ways of communication are:"09. Respect & Encourage" "10. Welcome different ideas"There are two.
Team performance will not improve if communication begins with denial and oppressing others. It is important to first be grateful for the opinions of others and to try to understand them.
11. Openness & Fairness
What lies ahead after implementing these two ways is"11. Openness & Fairness"This is a way to encourage people to actively interact with others, rather than clinging to their own positions or power.
If you practice Openness & Fairness without practicing the two foundational ways, you may end up communicating in a way that actively tries to defeat others. Please avoid communication that violates the dignity of others.
How to deal with society
12. Promote success, not short-term profits
The last, 12th WAY"12. Promise success, not short-term profits."It encompasses all 11 ways of "dealing with individuals" and "dealing with organizations" that we have discussed so far.
What does that mean?Practicing the WAY at a high level as an individual or organization will lead to contributions to customers and society.
Our business is not just about making profits for ourselves.XICA exists to bring success to our customers and improve society.By practicing the WAYs individually and as an organization at a high level, you will be able to practice the most difficult and ultimately desirable WAY, "12. Commit to success, not short-term profits."
When practicing the WAY for individuals and organizations,Ask yourself, "Is this work helping my customers succeed? Is it helping to make the world a better place?".
Towards XICA, where many challenges and new synergies are born
We have shared the structure and relationships of the 12 XICA WAYs, as well as tips on how to embody each of them. XICA members are people who can embody the 12 XICA WAYs.
"You always aim high and challenge yourself," "Even though you're not the project owner, you still make it your own," it would be great if XICA became a place where conversations like these were exchanged naturally every day, centered around the XICA WAY.
It is my hope that by practicing XICA's code of conduct, the "XICA WAY," you will be able to take on even more challenges and create unprecedented synergy.
Conclusion
XICA WAY is one of the values of the company, which is its mission, vision, and values.Guidelines for daily practiceI think what makes XICA unique is that they see it this way.
We respect the values and ways of thinking of each member, and once we have learned something, we systematize it and share it as an asset that anyone can use, rather than leaving it to individual know-how. We systematize definitions and standards, rather than leaving it to individual intuition. In this way,The distinctive feature of XICA is that by getting to the essence of things, we aim to develop the talents of not only ourselves but all XICA members together. If you are interested, please feel free to come and talk to us.
